Privacy Policy

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in and secure. We also use Firebase Analytics, which may use cookies or similar technologies to measure website usage. You can limit or block cookies through your browser settings; however, essential functionality, including sign-in, may not work properly if essential cookies are disabled.

Where required by applicable law, we will ask for your consent before enabling non-essential analytics technologies. Our current implementation asks for analytics consent before initializing Firebase Analytics.

We use Google Firebase Analytics to understand how visitors use EloLifter and to improve our website. Once enabled, Firebase Analytics automatically records certain usage information and also allows us to record custom events. It may collect technical and usage information such as pages viewed, feature interactions, approximate location derived from IP address, browser and device information, language, referral source, and pseudonymous identifiers or cookies.

We use this information in aggregated form to understand product usage, measure performance, and improve EloLifter. We do not intentionally send your name, email address, Google account information or Google ID, internal account ID, chess games, PGN content, chess moves, game URLs, usernames, or analysis content to Firebase Analytics or include them as analytics event parameters.

Firebase Analytics is provided by Google. Google may process this information under its own policies. Learn more in Firebase's privacy information.

We use your information to:

• Create and secure your EloLifter account;
• Process and analyse uploaded PGNs;
• Generate and display game-analysis results and educational feedback;
• Maintain your saved analysis history;
• Respond to support, privacy, and deletion requests;
• Protect the service, investigate misuse, and improve reliability.
• Measure visits and feature interactions, understand usage by country, and improve the service when you consent to analytics.

We do not sell your personal information.

Where applicable law requires a legal basis, we process account and game information as necessary to provide the service you request; security and limited operational information for our legitimate interests in protecting and operating EloLifter; and non-essential analytics only with your consent. We process legal requests and required records where necessary to comply with law.

EloLifter uses a Python/FastAPI backend, PostgreSQL, and a chess engine service hosted on AWS to process your game.

For each game, we send selected chess-analysis information to a OpenAI to generate personalized educational feedback. This may include engine-style evaluation data, board positions, moves, suggested continuations, classifications such as inaccuracies or blunders, and related chess context. We do not send your Google profile information to OpenAI for this purpose.

We configure each OpenAI Responses API request with storage disabled, so the generated response is not stored by OpenAI as retrievable Responses API application state. OpenAI may still temporarily retain prompts, responses, and related metadata in abuse-monitoring logs for up to 30 days by default, or longer where legally required or reasonably necessary to protect its services or third parties. OpenAI states that API inputs and outputs are not used to train its models by default unless the API customer expressly opts in. EloLifter does not opt in to share API data for model training.

We may share information with service providers that help us operate EloLifter:

• Google — Google Sign-In and Firebase Analytics, used for authentication and aggregated usage analytics;
• AWS, for hosting, database, and infrastructure;
• OpenAI, for generating personalized analysis explanations.

They may process information only as needed to provide their services to us and under their applicable terms and policies.

EloLifter is operated from India and designed primarily for users in India, although access may be available elsewhere. Our service providers, including Google (Google Sign-In and Firebase Analytics), AWS, and OpenAI, may process information in India or other countries where they operate. By using EloLifter, you understand that your information may be processed outside your country of residence, subject to applicable law.

If you access EloLifter outside India, continuing does not waive privacy or consumer rights that cannot legally be waived. Contact us if you want information about safeguards relevant to a transfer from your country.

Your account, uploaded PGNs, engine analysis, and personalized feedback remain in your account until you ask us to delete them.

EloLifter does not ask OpenAI to retain generated Responses for later retrieval. Separate OpenAI abuse-monitoring logs may retain submitted chess-analysis information and generated feedback for up to 30 days by default, subject to the legal and security exceptions described above. This provider-controlled retention may continue temporarily after deletion from EloLifter.

Analytics data is retained according to the retention settings in our Google Analytics property and may be kept in aggregated reports. You can ask us about the current setting or request deletion where applicable by contacting support@elolifter.com.

To request deletion, email support@elolifter.com from your account email address. We will remove your account and associated data from active systems promptly. Encrypted backup copies may remain until automatically overwritten, normally within 30 days, unless retention is required by law or necessary to address security, fraud, or legal claims.

You may contact us to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your account information, or to ask questions about how we process it. Email support@elolifter.com.

Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to receive a portable copy, restrict or object to processing, withdraw consent, appeal a decision, or complain to a privacy regulator. We will honor requests required by applicable law after taking reasonable steps to verify the requester.

You can stop using EloLifter at any time. If you withdraw permission for necessary processing by requesting deletion, you may no longer be able to use the service.

Browser Do Not Track signals are not a uniform consent mechanism, so EloLifter does not interpret them as an analytics preference. Use our Analytics preferences control instead. We do not currently sell personal information or use it for cross-context behavioural advertising.

Analytics is off until you select “Allow analytics.” You may decline it and still use EloLifter. You can change your choice at any time through “Analytics preferences” in the site footer. Declining after previously accepting stops future collection and removes accessible EloLifter analytics cookies from your browser.

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures designed to protect information. However, no online service or method of storage is completely secure.

EloLifter is intended only for people aged 18 or older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If you believe that a person under 18 has created an account, contact us at support@elolifter.com.

EloLifter does not currently use Google Ads, AdSense, or advertising cookies. Firebase Analytics is used only after your consent for service measurement and improvement; advertising storage and ad-personalisation consent are denied in our implementation. If we introduce advertising in the future, we will update this Privacy Policy and implement any required consent controls before using it.

We may update this Policy as EloLifter evolves. We will post the revised version here and update the effective date. If a change materially affects how we use personal information, we will provide additional notice where appropriate.
